frequently asked questions
How do I care for my jewelry?
- All of our jewelry is made of solid precious metals (sterling silver, gold, platinum). Though you can shower in it, we do not advise doing so. Moisture and humidity can tarnish silver especially. For cleaning, we recommend using a soft-bristled toothbrush with a mixture of warm water and gentle dish soap. Soak the piece in the mixture for 5-10 minutes before gently brushing. Dry well with a microfiber towel or soft cloth. For polishing, we recommend a Sunshine polishing cloth. Since our jewelry is never plated, you will not polish away any finish by using this. You can purchase one here. Although the metals we use in our designs can get wet and do not tarnish if they are properly dried, cared for and stored, we do NOT recommend sleeping in, showering in, spraying perfume or applying lotions or makeup directly on or near your jewelry. Over time, doing these things can dull and weaken your pieces. Store your jewelry in a jewelry box to protect it from moisture. Remove jewelry before doing the dishes, cooking, getting your nails done, using harsh cleaning or alcohol / acetone based products, working out, or swimming. We are not responsible for repair compensation if the piece is broken by force (i.e. snagged on clothing, run over, dropped, smacked on something) or by doing any activity mentioned above. Our pieces are well made and will last a lifetime if cared for properly!
- Before she opened up shop, Cherry worked in a corporate jewelry store's repair shop. You would not believe how disgusting some rings were when they came in. Often she would have to put them in the ultrasonic for quite some time before starting work because they were so gross. Every time she sees a video of someone making bread from scratch, working with raw meat, etc. while wearing their wedding ring, she winces. Please don't treat your jewelry this way.
When will my order arrive?
- Much of our work is hand fabricated as well as being made to order—which means we need to receive your order, order materials, make your piece, and then ship it. iroiro is a one-woman-show, so there is nobody but Cherry doing all of the work aforementioned—on top of running a business, working a full time job, and attending Boise State as a full time student. Made to order pieces will take up to 30 days to process and craft. Take note that shipping timeframes do not include the time needed to make your piece. See the product page for your specific item for a lead time, which is most likely in the product description. For any questions you can always contact us via the contact page or directly at cherry@iroirobycherry.com. Much of the aforementioned does not apply to ready made and vintage pieces such as secondhand. Again, please refer to the product description for your specific item.
Do you offer gift wrapping?
- All orders come in branded packaging with a handwritten thank you note. We are also able to include a personalized message if you contact us directly after placing your order.
Can I place a rush order?
- We can and do accommodate rush orders on a case-by-case basis. A 10% upcharge based on the total order cost will be added to accommodate a request to rush materials as well as to move up your order in the production queue. Overnight shipping is an additional charge and can be calculated based on the shipping destination and order total. Please contact us directly at cherry@iroirobycherry.com with the subject line "RUSH ORDER INQUIRY" to discuss your needs and get an estimate for lead time.
What is your cancellation policy?
- Orders may be cancelled within 24 hours of placement. Please contact us directly at cherry@iroirobycherry.com as soon as possible to cancel or modify an order. If your order has already started the production process—i.e. we have ordered materials, there will be a 10% restocking fee deducted from the refund.
Do you offer rhodium plating for white gold pieces?
- At the current moment, we do not. The materials and equipment involved with doing electroplating are quite expensive. A single bottle of rhodium alone costs upward of $1,000, never mind a rectifier or any of the other equipment or chemicals needed to complete the process. Keep buying from us and perhaps eventually we will be able to set up a plating station in the shop!
Do you offer jewelry repairs?
- If you damage or break a piece we made, we are happy to work with you to replace chains, stones, findings, or re-work what needs to be fixed. Depending on the extent of the damage, a repair fee will apply. We do not offer repairs on jewelry we did not make.
Do you offer ring resizing?
- Yes! Sizing fees vary by metal type and are listed below. Sizing includes a clean & polish and stone tightening as well. For any bridal rings we do offer one complimentary resize, but each resize thereafter is subject to the pricing below. Sizing of rings that are engraved will incur an additional fee for re-engraving. We do not offer sizing of rings we did not make.
- Silver resizing $33
- Gold resizing $66
- Platinum resizing $99
- Inside / outside re-engraving $11 / side
I don't see any rose gold pieces in your store. Do you ever work with rose gold?
- It is simply a matter of personal preference that we do not typically work with rose gold. Cherry does not like it—and neither do most jewelers. It is a pain to work with, and the best color matching solders are horrifically toxic. It is not considered hypoallergenic as it contains copper, therefore some people may have a reaction to it. It is softer and more brittle than yellow or white gold. These are a few of many reasons we do not carry rose gold in our normal collections. If you have your heart set on it, we are open to doing custom work with it as it is much easier to cast than to fabricate with.
